Oil content reduction of reused water in polymer flooded fields
Mature oil fields use water and polymer injection flooding to achieve enhanced oil recovery from the oil reservoir via oil wells, during the flooding process while oil is pumped to the surface the polymer and water along with the water are being pumped. The polymer and the water undergo extensive treatment to remove the oil molecules before being reused. The presence of oil particles in water being reused during the flooding process changes the viscosity property of injected polymer water there by affecting the quantity of oil recovered from the reservoir. Innovative solutions to reduce the oil content and improve quality of water being reused for extraction process is required.
